Here's a thread where people can post ideas for scenarios they want to see. Maybe some suggestions for our more prolific scenario creators....

I'll start with a couple:

--A scenario based on Niven/Pournelle's novel Footfall. I suggest six human civs, representing perhaps the six inhabited continents, or maybe superpowers/major powers, all allied against the threat of the seventh civ, the Fithp. The Fithp would start on "Space" (glacier?) terrain to the top of the Earth map, a strip of terrain with each square occupied by invisible, immobile units (belonging to the Fithp) with high defense numbers, representing the Fithp's "ownership" of the space above the Earth, and making space impenetrable to humans until they finally build their attack ship (like the one in the novel, secretly built in Bellingham, Washington). The initial Fithp "city" is their ship, in the midst of space. The Fithp can "build" asteroids, both small ones that destroy individual units, and larger ones that are like nukes. They start with perhaps a couple hundred paratrooper units, but CANNOT BUILD MORE because, well, they only came with so many of their people. Paradrop range would be enough to cover the planet from their ship. Perhaps periodically events can give them a dozen or so though. An event later in the game will give them the "Foot", which makes terrain changes on the Earth map and causes many coastal cities to be flooded and disappear. The human tech tree, of course, will work toward building a ship capable of attacking the Fithp city/ship.

Other ideas:

--What if Patton got his way, and after the defeat of Germany in WWII, American troops kept moving east toward Prague? The war is still going on with Japan, and scientists at Los Alamos and elsewhere are busily working on a project called "Manhattan". Would her war-weary allies follow suit, or would there be a severe diplomatic crisis in Europe? Would the momentum of Zhukov's march into Berlin be overcome by Patton's and Eisenhower's (and possibly other allied) forces? Would Japan get a second wind somehow, with a large part of enemy forces still committed in Europe? I suggest USA, USSR, UK, France, Japan, China, and Neutrals.

--The Communist/Nationalist civil war in China.

--Something involving the ancient trading sultanates and Javanese kingdoms of Indonesia.

These are 2 conflicts that I consider extremely relevant in the 20th century; but I haven´t seen a good scenario about them yet.

Korean War
Vietnam War
:D

The Opium Wars would be a good theme...

Didn't Morten work on a such scenario?

I don't think we've got a comprehensive Seven Year's War scenario yet, and we could need a large scenario about the Peloponnesian War and/or the Persian invasions of Greece before that. And as long as techumseh hasn't finished his scenario about this: The unification of Germany and the Franco-Prussian War. And I know EmuGod is working on a scenario about the Finnish Winter War, so that's being covered too...

FiGu is farther along than I am on his Winter War scenario. I would like to see a Franco-Prussian War scenario, it could be interesting to create. A Seven Weeks' War between Prussia nad Austria-Hungary could also be interesting, and of course the Russo-Japanese War.

How about a scenario that plays out just like a civ game, only about the conquest of space? I.e. seven civs, Humans being one and various alien races being others, each starting with one "city" representing their home star system (Humans start with Sol), and competing in a region of, say, 500 light years square. A total empire-building scenario, with wars being only incidental to play. Each star system will be a "land" square ("yellow stars" being the best "land", other colored stars being varying degrees less useful), with empty space being "ocean". The "Foldspace" technology later in the game will make an airport-like improvement possible for instantaneous transport. While all civs will start with one civ and rudimentary interstellar ("ocean") transport ability, each civ will have a few techs that others don't, reflecting cultural/prioritization differences--i.e. some would be more inclined to military firepower, others would be more scientific or industrial, others relatively good at espionage (telepath races?), etc. Humans would be the "balance" standard (they would probably be the best civ for the purple slot, perhaps). A possible "space race" ending could be the building of an intergalactic-capable vessel, perhaps.

P.S. I concur about the Opium Wars idea, too. :D

Allan 2:
usually I prefer historical scenarios :D , but your idea too sounds good:) ... and it will need a great base-work... ;)
However, at the moment, for me
1- Opium Wars
2- Kreta 1941
3- Space Races

The Opium Wars would be very suitable: large strategic operations, technological superiority etc...

I think we need more 'gigamap' scenarios covering the whole world. So far, there is only the 2194 days one from www.historic-battles.com. I agree that the Korean War is urgently needed, Vietnam would be unsuitable because it was a largely static war.

marklv:
I made a cold war scenario in a gigamap; it´s called "iron curtain" and it´s exlcusive for PBEM.
Eh... i´m making some tests here, in the PBEM section. Wanna take a look? ;)
