I started this new thread as the discussion of scenarios in the other thread seemed out of place.
Xeejj posted the following scenario in This Thread
CIVIL0.MAP
CIVIL0.SVE
Xeejj stated that it was at emperor level I decided to play it although the play seemed king level. Somewhere along the line, when the unhappiness didnt kick in I checked and found the scenario was actually at KING level. This caused be some consternation. Why did Xeejj state that it was Emperor level? Did TerraForm have a bug?
The scenario as stated was 7 civilizations on a single island. So using my standard way of playing. I quickly developed 4 militia units and moved out to block. Went for mathematics, built some barracks while I waited.
2920 BC: AZTECS DISCOVER MATHEMATICS
That about sealed the fate of the occupants of the home island.
1460 BC: AZTECS CAPTURE PEKING
One other civilization did pop up on my island. In general in a regular game I always like to keep a cavalry unit always moving on the home island particularly after a message about some civilization being destroyed. Anyway I stumbled upon one on my island.
1100 BC: American civilization destroyed by Aztecs
In the mean time
1560 BC: AZTECS DISCOVER NAVIGATION
and also as luck would have it
2500 BC: Chinese build the Hanging Gardens
So I now had sail and pile of catapults and a little hedge against unhappiness.
1020 BC: German civilization destroyed by Aztecs
880 BC: Greek civilization destroyed by Aztecs
680 BC: Babylonian civilization destroyed by Aztecs
640 BC: Indian civilization destroyed by Aztecs
The only civilization I didnt get
1020 BC: Russian civilization destroyed by Greeks
I ended up with
1460 BC - Score: 1762 Civ Rating 140%
All of this was great fun, a nice easy game that went fast. But back to the point I had expected all that early unhappiness that comes with emperor level. The game did list this as a King game but I had that nagging feeling that something wasnt quite right.
The last screen comes up.
Civilization score
Empire of the Aztecs
Emperor Montezuma: 620 BC
Emperor! What is this? I played a test game at king and prince. Guess what! That final screen always shows ever the level as Emperor. How did I miss that for so long.
Thanks to Xeejj for the scenario also game play was with civ.1 ver. 474.05
