DZ, we are at the same page, :) your instructions was not adopted. WE symphathize for the same ideas, and your excellent diamond trick, blanced off the poor planning at Fanatikku. I see that Trade does fairly well, I cannot say the same all over :)

Good job :)

PS - still, someone got to be proponents for following a plan, or we should simply play Spain in the DG6 like real banana republic, and not insult the Japanese organization :)

Hey, was that a shot?

Even though it will take 20-some turns to discover Polytheism, I still support the Mysticism/Polytheism route.

Question for Rik: What happens if the people elect to buy Mysticism, and the Mysticism/Poly path wins here by 1-2 votes over Writing? Do we go to Poly or Writing?
According to the law the office-holder has a tie-breaking vote. I am going to use this if needed, and this situation you depict might need it. But I don't think we'll get into that situation.
Currently the path of science is:
"Iron Working -> Alphabet -> Writing -> Literature" or "Iron Working -> Alphabet -> Mysticism -> Polytheism".

I expect to have Mysticism by then through Iron Working trade (Not purchase !!!).

But if your scenario does take place I think we'll go for Poly as the votes have indicated it. But if there is time (between TC's) it will go back to discussions and repolling.
People change, situations change, votes change and I don't want to hold instructions based on obsolete polls.

I choose Mysticism -> Polytheism

mainly going off the assumption we will be able to trade for Masonry.

Right you are, Black Hole. My mistake.

On side issues...
Monarchy all the way!!! :king:

If anyone would go through the trouble to project Japanatica under Monarchy to measure
increased food, commerce and shields under Monarchy, which will be at the earliest achieved in term 1, if people are wise enough to vote mysticism and polytheism, I will be happy Imagine 5 diamonds, wines, rivers, foodplains, wheat and irrigation, all that.
The tech Monarchy combined with the commerce bonuses will quickly get us writing and so on. we surely do not need literature as first priority on this map.

It is the opinion of the Minister for Culture that we go for Masonry first, then on to Literature. This leaves both primary wonders open, maximizing chances for a cultural bonus. Furthermore, should this fail, the Minister for Culture wishes to see the Monarchy path explored. But, in either case, I wish to start off with Masonry.

As Science Deputy, it is my duty to inform the pollgoing audience what techs have been discovered as of the most recent TC:
Alphabet
Masonry
HBR
Mysticism

As of 9:45 am (8/20), EST, writing->lit is the winner, but there are still 2 more days.
Please vote!
And do not vote for anything involving HBR and Myst. Heck, if you did, see if you can get a mod to change it.

They can still vote for Polytheism, Stuck.

Perhaps an updated poll is desired. Going to start a discussion and later a poll soon.
The main reason this poll was posted with these options so early was because it was very likely we'd obtain several techs this turnchat -> and we did. I didn't want to have the science department lagging behind in knowing the "preferred by the citizens" - techs and thus causing an undesired chatstopper because of it. And we succeeded.

Oh and, I've closed this poll.

Dear people and ministers

I am very glad that incomplete instructions have been brought to an end, so chatstoppers are less likely to happen. I am not an extremesit, but would like 10 turns be the norm, and not the maixum. Personally, we could easily have gone for the next settler, without ruining our political options. However, if we have been soft and weak at the TC, we would surely have stopped at the iron as some suggested, at no avail.
