I think the science trait is to weak. Okay you get a free tech at the beginning of each era,Big deal! Should be two techs instead of one. :p

What? The scientific trait is even stronger in Conquest then it is in vanilla or PTW. 2 techs? You're kidding right?

However the Scientific trait is weak at higher levels, that I'll agree with.

Yes I play as the Greeks at emperor level and I find it quite hard to even stay ahead. Babylon is when it gets worse.

Well, I like scientific nations (w/industrious is better!) I think that cheap Libraries, Universities, Research Labs is very important (more culture and research) When I'm not scientific I miss a lot the bonus tech in the beginning of each era.

Should be two techs instead of one

Agreed, a bonus tech should be available to all civs in the beginning of each era. For Scientific Nations this bonus would be 2 instead of 1...

Sorry My bad english, but i think u get the Idea

It's fine as it is. At lower levels where you are the researcher it is quite good, with cheaper libraries and more scientific leaders. At higher levels it is not so good. However I find it essential in popular variant games like OCC (One City Challenge) and 5CC.

Yes.. if it's one thing that human history teaches us it is that as each new era dawned on each and every civilization this earth has known, new technology was discovered... for some nations it was two amazing discoveries!

I find the scientific trait to be one of the best. Free tech, half price buildings, and a bigger chance of scientific great leaders? Some games I just want this trait.

I agree Saturno, Scientific and Industrious are a great combo. Add in Sipahi . . .

Or Immortals. Scientific is great. Especially the cheap libraries.

I say that instead of getting two free techs at the beginning of every era, you should get one free tech, and the opportunity to research two more techs with only a two turn minimum, and then it goes back up to four turns.

SuperBeaverInc., I recognize the glory of the immortals, but I am far too impatient to do my conquering with infantry! I'm playing the Napoleon one now and the slow pace of Imperial Guardsmen is annoying the heck out of me as they cross Spain. Maybe I will try Persia on a small map though, I need to work on my early game.

blackhalo15 and t3h_m013, I hate the four turn minimum. I edit it to two.

Yeah I do find Scientific to be one of the mid tier traits. If you're behind in research then the SGL bonus doesn't matter much and a lot of the game can be decided by the time you get to build Univesities.

Maybe have Libraries/Universities/Research labs effects be doubled instead of half cost to building them. Or at least being able to choose which free tech you get with the new ages.

a4phantom: maybe in your case scientific civs should have a 1 turn minimum... but then i dont think many players get that good a science rate.

HamaticBabylon, forgive me please for being sarcastic - but the scientific trait should not compensate your shortcomings, it shall and will give you a free tech boost and certain discounts on science related buildings, plus a higher chance for a SGL.

Why 2 techs at the beginning of a new age? You can quite easily rush through the ages with that. Remember also, the enemy civs will also get 2 free techs then... how strong must scientific be to be really good, be honest - it is already a strong trait. Even if you think of it as mediocre, why make this one stronger? Think of the militaristic trait then, it was one of the traits that people disliked most in a recent survey here.

Only while playing on warlord was I able to *maintain* a science rate of under 4 turns, but sometimes you need a certain tech (Sanitation, Monarchy, Replaceable Parts) next turn instead of in four, so why shouldn't you be able to crank your funding to 100%, start a great scientific age, and get the tech you need in under four turns?

Scientific is the best trait, but in Counquests it is a bit too weak.
Didn't it get stronger in conquests with the addition of the SGL and the higher chance of spawning them?

I agree if any Trait needs a boost it'd be Militaristic, specially now that the MGL can't rush Great Wonders.

i love scientific trait in one of my recent games on monarch i got into the industrial age and traded steam engine for about 100gpt this allowed me to raise my science rate and then i made it all the way to mass production in about 30 turns it rocked and i was loaded but i had no resources
