I've been away for a while and it is sad that I did not know la fayette as everyone else did. At least we could all share the affinity for the game and his accomplishments here at CivFanatics and Apolyton will be remembered. The beautiful thing about the forums is that we can reread the wisdom of others in the years to come.

My regards to all.

After more than 4 years being away from CFC, when I saw this news, I decided to make it my first post since 2002.

My father died yesterday afternoon from brain cancer.

I know he enjoyed playing with you, and as I don't know how you all correspond on the Apolyton and CivFanatics sites, I thought you could relay the news there to those he knew and who care.

I see many new names here at CFC, and many may not have known La Fayette; I only knew him through online contact, his games, and his good nature & sharp mind. He was an excellent player and innovator, and new players can still be well-served by searching for his name & reading his posts. You can also download GOTM games he played, and see a piece of his persona.

Though he died 9 months ago, his impact and part of him lives on in those who knew him, and he won't be forgotten. Thank you for your help La Fayette, and your sage advice, especially in naval warfare!

God bless you and your family, La Fayette. You will be missed!
