... has a correct representation of Europe, and that is up to date with the games updates so far.

I tried LEM and several others but all of them either use mods that change the game, have a terrible shape for Europe, are too small or place the Civs at wrong positions.

What I'd like to see is a Map that places the Capitals according to theire actual position. Paris and Berlin are not coastal citys, just as an example. And each european civ should have enough space to build at least (!) a second city within its real borders: A city at the mediteranian sea for France, Munich and/or Hamburg for Germany, Neaples for Rome...

I realy dont like to start a game in Europe if I know for a fact, that I need to kill my neighbours if I ever want a second city! Thats just not right.

I searched for hours. A few months ago and again today, but no map seems to offer a playble european continent. Please, someone give me a pointer in the right dirction.

Because the maps subforum is only for finished maps ;).

Check out the huge map and the giant map in this Earth map pack. In the giant Earth map for example, you can have 4 cities in France alone.

If you would like realistic borders try my Atlas 1776 map, it starts in 1776 with America as the 13 colonies, and realistic policies are provided for civs, every Civ in Europe has at least 4 cities in its real political borders, if you wait till tommorow i will have them all updated and then they will all be ready to be uploaded to the Civ DL section in game. Remember that my Maps are sort of Beta, so when they are uploaded they are Alpha.

My map is not ready yet, but I plan to finish it as soon as I get one problem sorted out (VisualStudio refuses to install and so I cannot mod the game). I'm considering using default city state names (that's what I needed to mod), but it limits placement a lot. I want to fill the continents evenly with CSs, and half of the default names are European ones.

I don't want to brag but my map has been a year in the making (off and on), and the topology, river placement and continental outlines should be top of the line. I even took the trouble of placing every single Pacific island using atolls. :crazyeye: Europe is still kinda crowded on my map (its most significant flaw); I was also planning to mod the min city placement distance back to two hexes, but then the AI would fill Asia and Africa with cities, ruining the map balance. Without this change, most European civs have room for one extra city; with it, maybe two or three.

My studies have started again, so the map is maybe a month away from completion, or two weeks if I hurry and discard the moddings. However, my motivation varies, so it may well take longer. Just keep watching the map forum, it's not like there's a lot of activity there so it should be easy to notice. :)

Nice to know that theres more to come :)

btw I answered earlier at the original position of this thread but somehow the post isnt showing here

Just posting to inform BSPOllux and others who may be interested in my map: I've recently gotten a job and my studies have kicked in full gear in a brutal way. If Diablo 3 comes out before Christmas, my map will have to wait until Spring... Otherwise I may finish it for Christmas. My motivation has disappeared for the moment, due to the hurry worries and some other, personal issues. Sorry about the hasty promise.
