After playing Civ IV Complete on another machine last year, I decided to try an install on a different one this month. After some mild anguish I finally got it to install and then had no luck getting it to load by using desktop shortcuts.
I can now get to the single player screen and select Play or Load, but only if I eject the disc, then reinsert it and click the BtS shortcut right away. Otherwise I get the "Incorrect CD..." popup and it won't load. (BTW 2K/Firaxis- There is ONLY 1 Disc with Civ IV Complete!!!- So Your FIX with the mislabeled disc BS is, well, BS)
Now to my second problem. I can't play any Scenarios or Mods, where before on my other puter I could play FF and PF mods. All I get is either, "Game must be restarted for this Mod to play, blah" , or the aforementioned "Incorrect Disc".
I've tried patching with 3.19 and can't even run the patch. It wants to send an error report and when I look at the details it is mostly an error with the Civ.exe file. Do I need to use all patches in order?
I am running on an XP SP3 and have played 2 new games so far on archipelago with no probs, save the movies run slowly, but I can live with that.
Here's to anyone that can point me to the thread, solution or webpage that can clear this up for me. I'll dance at your wedding.
