Serial Code

Hi all, first post, I hope this is the most appropriate forum. :)

I downloaded Civ 3 a while ago and purchased it, I remember filling in a serial code to unlock the demo into full game mode. Alas, I've misplaced the e-mail with the code, but I do remember it mentioning something about receiving the code again 5 more times.

Does anyone know what I mean? I'm an old Civ fan, but wouldnt really want to part with my money again, but if I can get my old serial code then I'll probably end up trading my life for some mad 500 city civilization :)

Cheers if someone can point me inthe right direction, I'm downloading the game just now!

I usually give new posters to the site a warm welcome but we don't care for vermin like you. Even if you did read the rules and know about the zero tolerance for piracy, be advised we adhere to the statement.

You'll get no help here, so do us a favor and be gone.

Well before you jump to harsh and undeserved conclusions, READ MY POST. I have already paid for Civ 3, I need information about how to RE-OBTAIN my serial code.

Thanks for being civil about it.

This is abit harsh mate the thread starter wasnt actually asking anyone to help him commit piracy just if anyone else has been thru this procedure of buying civ after downloading a demo and could they remind him who he needsto get hold off to get his old code back.

Ps i cant help tho sorry

Do you not know anything about copyright law? You didn't pay for Civ3 you paid for a copy of Civ3. Losing a serial code doesn't legally entitle you to a free replacement, and even if it didn't you wouldn't get it here.

If your story is legit (which I doubt) then I apologize and recommend you contact the manufacturer. Legal or not, you won't find what you're seeking on this site because we can't be sure.

I knew u was a nice bloke really Mr Slug :)

Let's take it from the beginning superslug (and FWIW, I am a programmer)

- I download Civ 3.
- I pull out my credit card and get serial code
- Serial code is emailed, with notice saying I can get the code 5 more times
- Many moons later (now), I download the game again
- Now, I'd like to find the MEANS of getting my OLD serial code

Where's the harm in that? I think you should troll on another forum, I'm just asking an innocent question and you're flying off the pan handle.

Like I said, contact the manufacturers. We're a fan site.

Maybe I am being presumptuous but this reeks of similarity to cover stories of known pirates.

And I already said that if I'm wrong I apologize and I haven't flamed or trolled you since that statement.

Anyone have pointers, as per the original question? thank you.

Go to www.civ3.com. They'll probably have contact info there.

Think thats the best and only advice ure gonna get scotty i can understand ppl being suspicous and as such they aint gonna let on too much but u cant go wrong by contacting the official bods

Yes cableguy, I'm beginning to see that.

It's not like I'm asking for a serial code though. Perhaps someone still has the original email and can paste the instructions about how to retrieve their serial-code.

The developers send it through email and validate your email address to ensure you purchased it, so we shouldn't be as wary ;)

At the very best, I'm going to have to buy it again, and since I am in the UK, technically I can't use the support on offer at civ3.com

For what it's worth I went to Civ3.com and clicked on United Kingdom. I don't know for sure, but my guess would be this is the official site for our friends across the pond:
http://www.civ3.com/en/. The support link seems to be UK oriented...

Moderator Action: C'mon, guys! There *are* some legit companies out there that sell Civ3 on the net. You download a demo, and pay for the key to unlock more than about an hour's play time. Unfortunately, I don't know the names of any of those companies off the top of my head.

Scotty, I apologize for the *welcome* you received, but we do have a zero-tolerance policy on piracy here, so I guess their zeal can be excused. ;)

FWIW, many posters *have* had problems with their D/Led games, because they cannot update them with appropriate patches, and they don't seem to play well with "off-the-shelf" expansions like Conquests. But if all you want is a basic Civ3 game, and you don't mind only having a download to work from, by all means, enjoy yourself. :)

thanks for welcoming on behalf of the forum ;)

I see this now I've downloaded, it asks for an authetication-code that was in the email. and there's also a link "if you have already purchased this game"

Doesnt seem to be recognising the email address (that I think) I purchased with, and doesnt recognise my CC either.

Suffice to say, if youre reading this and wondering, download the game and the options are easy enough and visible.

I sent an email off so hopefully they can verify that i actually bought the game.

Cheers!

Just as an update;

Sent an email to "Atari UK" they said they wouldnt be able to help, I'd need to speak to whomever I purchased the game from. So I am royally ******* ;)

Just bought the game for a SECOND time, so hopefully whichever vermin has copied the game, I'lve covered the cost....only joking hehe.

FYI, the 5 new activation codes work by reinstalling the program and clicking on the "Already Paid" link when loading up the "buy civilization" page.

Cheers
