Okay, I installed Civ4 back on Christmas, and I did everything I needed to do. But whenever I put the disc 2 PLAY disc in, it says that the wrong disc is in. So I put in the install disc and it runs, everything natural until I start a game. Nobody's faces show up, just their jaws and their eyes, and sometimes hats or feathers.

AND, also the WHOLE terrain around me is BLACK. It doesn't come into color until I've been playing for about an hour. But the faces do not appear. Sometimes, when I zoom in and out, at certain elevations, the terrain turns black once again.

So I've been trying to reinstall it, but whenever I load the game it oes to the screen that says play, exit, view readme and all that stuff. But it does not say reinstall. So I exit the game, go into programs and look under Fraxis games, and it says civ4. So I go there and all it says is play civ4, view readme, and visit civ4 website. It does not say uninstall or reinstall.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS GET IT MORMAL.
Help is appreciated.:)

Some early release discs had the labels mixed up on the discs - "play" was on the wrong disc as you discovered.

Deinstall/reinstall.
Deinstall is a Windows function that you activate through Control Panel - Add/remove programs.

Graphics / Picture Problems
The discs will have version 1 onboard. There were a number of issues with Version 1, these were resolved by a Major Patch V1.52

Next Steps
1. Post your Dxdiag so we can help by checking your PC setup, many aspects can cause issues, so a quick check canhelp you:
Start Button - click - select run - type dxdiag - press enter - wait a min - select "save all information" - post using the 'go advanced ' button below.

2. Start the game, and in the menu structure at the start of loading you will see the option "advanced", click it, then click "check for updates", then "follow your nose" and let the game get on with downloading the Patch. Its a big Patch 44Mb, so will take a while dependingon your internet link. 5-10 mins if Broadband, hours if dial-up (if the latter set it running and go to bed, will be there in the morning).

3. Restart the game after patching and post if there are issues. If your hardware does not meet the game minimums you will have issues, and unlikely to work properly.

We may have to work with you to get through some driver issues and maybe a few other problems initially - Civ IV is a full 3D implementation, and many Civ fans have not been in that space before and are not used to the demands of 3D games on PCs. It can be a little frustrating before it all settles. Once its sorted, you will be back to just winding up the game and playing .... usually
