Hello,

For some strange reason, my comp can't get SP1 installed (I hhave Xp Pro and when I launch update.exe a window in order to resume setup pops up and fades out right away so that I can't continue ...).

This is why I am wondering whether Civ IV could work even if I did not update to SP1 ?

What kind of issues may I encounter ?

I am not accusing you but if for some reason you have a copy of XP Pro with a messed up key, Windows will not let you do the update...that might be a problem. I had a friend's copy of XP Pro and it didn't let me update so I had to go back to my own XP Home edition.

No I have a legit version of Xp, but I found out about my problem, it seems to be because of a virus undetected by Norton. Yet I am on holiday so I can't format the hdd because I don't have the Windows Xp cd.

So there is no way to run Civ4 without SP1 ?
