I want to make my game more challenging and funny, so I choose huge map, arid > hot > bilion yrs old world. And my starting position was on desert completely surroundet by not hills, but mountains! But dammit, I didnt take a screenshot. On second attempt I get better hills / forest 2 titlies with game.

How do you set up world climate, and age?

When you start a new game you can select the "image" of the world(continents, pangea, etc...) by left-clicking what you want. At the same 1st screen, you can select the barbarian difficulty. The climate options(images) are shown at the bottom. Just select your favourite. The "age" can be selected by 3 images: 5 billion, and so on...just click on the image you want.

I go with all the intermediate settings: Warm, temperate, and 4 billion. Except for map size, on which I use large or huge.

King Alexander - Iknow, I know man, just wanna hear your opinion / settings you are using.

Random, random, random. Makes things unpredictable.

I normally play on a Large/Huge Pangea world, with all 'nature settings' on default.

Wet makes too much jungles, while dry makes too much deserts.
An old world is too mountaineous - while a 'new' world is too flat.

IMO anyways ;)

Sorry for that Cubannus.

I like to have large pangea with 20% water or continents 40%water. Temperate, warm, wet. 5 billion. Roaming or Raging barbs(sometimes random).

If want to be surprised, all random.

i do huge map all the rest i set as random

Always wet and cool, and I alternate between Standard and Large. Mostly I use continents, with 70% water.

I usually go warm and wet since you can cut down the jungles and forests to get grasslangs, but deserts are lost forever.
Also I usually go for 4 billion years.
Map size and type is just by whim of what I want to play.

My problem is with how they have the ages set up, I would think that the older the planet the MORE mountanous it should be thanks to the movement of titonic plates (sp.). Are mountains formed over many years than how come in Civ the disappear over yeras, seems backwords to me.
