What is a maximum settlement radius for maximum expansions in Civ7? in Civ 5 and 6, a city has a radius of 3 hexes.

Is it still plausible to place a new town so many hexes apart from the capitol and from each other settlements? so to provide well protected capitol (A seat of power at the Land Border is very vulnerable. one that's located at the heartland is safe, one located by the sea is still acceptable but not really safe also.) , and to make a megalopolis.

^This feature video is a briefings on Cities and Towns (and what does a town do). but not a settlement radius.

i believe in one of the streams they stated settlements only work tiles within 3 tiles still. Personally i was hoping they would change this to 4 or 5.

As for the gap between settlements, i dont not recall them saying what that is. If i had to guess, the rules are the same as Civ 5/6

In the modern stream they did show a unique unit named the Prospector for America that can claim resources 4 or even 5 tiles away
Civ6 cities could already claim tiles up to 5 tiles away (and there was a great merchant doing basically the same job as the prospector), but they could only work up to 3 tiles, so it will most probably be unchanged from Civ6

You can't grab the 4th ring tiles in Civ 7 (unless otherwise explicitely stated). We've see improvement being placed upon a resource on the 3th ring, and it doesn't grab any tile further away.
this means same radius of three hexes?

Correct, except in the modern age there was some UU that could grab resources further out IIRC. America, was it?

Also they dropped the Landmass rule in 7, you can no longer settle cities closer to each other if they differ landmasses (which allowed you to place cities with 2 tiles between one another if they didn't share a landmass)

So "Culture Bombs" work exactly like they did in Civ6 but without the natural culture growth to claim further away ... 🤔 good to know.
Not that claiming tiles in the 4th or 5th ring would make much sense without workers to improve those anyway, so it doesn't really make much of a difference except for defensive positions i guess. And now that we can build "forts" on a tile with military units even if it has another improvement, even for defense it won't make much of a difference other than the fact you need to settle within 3-tiles of any choke point you want to control (but relying on 4th or 5th ring growth was never a good idea anyway)
