Whenever I build a settler it tells me 1 of 3 places to build my next city. And that suggestion is based off where I settled my last city. My question is: Is there a way to show more suggested spots like say on the other side of the continent?

Are you talking about the green, lightgreen, grey etc indications of where water is? You can see those on everything that you have uncovered but not if they are covered

No, I'm talking about the little city icon that appears on the map.

Of course. I forgot about those because I do not really take the computer's recommendation into account.
but I do not know if there is a way to make those appear anywhere other than close. You probably should not build close if you can secure territory further out. Just use your own judgment on this

Yeah, I settle on the one that's further out but I have figured out that the computer is giving suggestions based on where you settled your last city meaning it strings your empire out in one direction instead of a more flowering from the center out that I favor.

Generally as I uncover land I drop map tacks on good settling spots. Sometimes it changes as I uncover more map depending on water, spacing of other cities or finding a tile I want to reach. I wouldn't put too much weight on the computer suggestions. They're not bad but they're not always the best choice either.

Hey that's a good idea, thank you

Just so I don't forget a good location, as I am exploring if I find a primo city spot, I mark it and name it like "harbor turtle pearl" or "city 2 wines" so I find it again.

Does settling directly near a natural wonder give the base yield of the tile like science or faith to the city tile?

yes. Its often the best place to settle especially very early where things like a +2 culture/+2 faith desert tile adjacent to an oasis with the same bonus can be very good. Or in the +3 science +3 tile from 4-tile mountain wonder. Or the 5 food 2 culture in the tundra tile.

I think the computer is just showing what the AI would have chosen, so the same algorithm is used. In that case, the farther the location from your cities, the less value it has. It is also more important in RnF due to loyalty mechanism.
In some cases, like Island starts, the algorithm is tweaked to allow for settling in more distant locations, so AI can reach other islands, etc.

No is the simple answer.
Even what they suggest is not necessarily best, I completely ignore suggestions.
One of the more powerful things in the game is the Colosseum, this effects cities within 6 tiles so the majority of my city planning is done around getting 6-8 cities around a coliseum. This wonder cannot be underestimated, the loyalty is rarely important but the +2 culture and +2 amenities per city is very strong.
