SGOTM 08 - The Real Ms. Beyond

Yes. I haven't not checked whether I am able to access the save, but I am positive that I will be able to, and therefore be able to contribute some turns.

Go for 2-3 more axes in the capital asap, but use the whip once (if everyone aggree) to speed them, we are already late for early rush. The 1st axes should go around the border to scout while waiting for the last ones (you could always try to pop the hut west if it is still there).

After the 2 axes, worker or lighthouse in capital ?

I would change WB to galley in the second city (or axe, but I am afraid it will be too long to build to help), then settler ?

Orb will take the next turnset. Imo best to stop when we have 2-3 axes near Shaka´s capital and the rest behind.

Also kill the panther for some easy exp.

After the 2 axes (1 one whipped, second one built normally, we should go with 1 worker and then lighthouse with all due haste.

OK - I'll play tonight at 8pm UK time.

Plan is for Capital to build 2 axe's (1 whip, 1 built) then worker then start Lighthouse (if I get that far.)

Meanwhile axe near panther takes it out. And 2 other axe's proceed to Shaka's eastern border. Panther axe will join them so that we have a 3 axe stack. - I'll stop when the axe stack arrives at Shaka's border.

Also pig city will switch to galley.

Worker will road to Ivory and hook up to help the axe movement and happiness + whatever other improvements can be made to help capital production (mines)...(Haven't looked at the map before writing this.)

Research will finish sailing/masonry then go for pottery to give Granary in pig city....If pottery comes in quickly and pig city can finish galley reasonably fast then I'll start granary, but I suspect this will finish after my turn set.

Just a tiny bit of MM (sorry if completely obvious) : don't start the worker immediatly IF we can grow within 1-2 turn, grow first starting lighthouse (for 1-2t max), then swap to worker... (especially since we will have several high quality tiles that will be unused)

Jabah - Good point.

Feel free to point out the obvious to me...It might be obvious to you, but might not be to me....So I'm happy if you or anyone else wants to point out the obvious. I wont be insulted.

Good call to stop, I would have been tempted to settler steal if the settler was escorted all alone, but nicely done.

I would go forward with the choke, rush, although the isthmus city complicated things (impi means copper)

Which in all likelyhood makes this a choke, rather then a rush. I would say if there are too many defenders in the capital when we arrive, we go with a choke.

After the lighthouse we could try for a quick Great Lighthouse and wait for the settler build till the galley is ready.

So the decision is really, do we build a galley after the lighthouse or do we try for a wonder?

Who wants to go next?

Yeah, looks like a choke now. Declare once 4 axes are near the isthmus and raze it, while moving the one axe past the isthmus to try and pillage the copper (keeping it in forests).

With copper already connected, I think Archery is useless until Feudalism/Machinery, war or no war. If we try for Oracle we should research that; otherwise start on IW for jungle clearing maybe?

Should we consider a 2-turn granary with the overflow in the capital? Will make future whipping much better.

Could anyone post a picture within a few hours (otherwise I would look at it at home when I am back after work :) ).

We probably don't need archery (not now anyway). IW for jungle or Writing to prepare to go the Glib as fast as possible.

Even if we want to try for Oracle, by the time we have a settler on the marble (need galley+settler+transportation time) and the capital has finished GLH (or should we gamble and finish Oracle first ?), we surely have enough time to research Poly or Meditation+Priesthood (or not?).

@timmy : 2t granary whip with overflow (into any Wonder if possible) seems good to me

@arch : Orb had played only 7t, so he could play a few more (raze Shaka 2nd city and scout his capital) after this discussion if he wants to.

Nods, Orb you a good call to stop but I think you can go ahead if noone objects by dowing Shaka, razing his 2nd city and advance on the capital. As soon as our 5 axes are near it we can make another decision.

I thought the information about Shaka's new city was a good place to stop and let all discuss...but sure if people want me to play a few more turns then that is fine by me.

I'm happy to DOW on Shaka. - Axe's should be able to take 1arch and 1 impi.

I'll raze the isthmus city and advance towards Shaka's capital.

While all that is happening our capital will finish LH. - So I'll build a 2T granary as well. (The build and the attack should be another 7 turns.)...If folks want to discuss what we should build after granary then I can select as the next build then post again.

My thinking with Archery was it gives us defensive units for cities and helps us towards Horse Archers and Longbows...versus IW which will reveal iron but might not give us any Swordsmen if we dont have the resource.....But I'm happy to switch to IW if the team think it's a better strategy.

I also agree IW over archery.

The granary is a good decision after the lighthouse, I would aim for a settler or the GLH, we still have good chances to get it.Thinking about it, I prefer the settler though.

We will need archery at some point, for cheap MP/defence, but right now it could wait.

if we whip the granary t2, I would put the overflow in the GLH, but we could build a settler while putting the GLH on hold (and whip it with overflow as well into GLH?). Just 'time' the settler building with the galley.

Did we get a worker razing the city (or did he run away before?)
