SGOTM 13 - TNT thread

Nice going, Dude! Taking care of business - the English are history , as are the Vikings and Spanish with the Russians on the ropes. :D

Turn 319 1495 AD
- 45.63% require 52% World Population
- 25.62% Land Area require 64%

Is there a quick way of calculating just how many enemy cities we'll need to make 64% Land Area?

I caution the next player that some units are in auto move mode.

Big game tonight - My team has made the Stanley Cup Finals and leads the series 1 - 0. :)

I have no time to play the next couple of days, and I think someone else should take my spot. Just move me one or two spots down the list.

@ enKage - On May29 you were busy. How does your schedule look today? If you can play you are up next. If not, I can play tomorrow, at the earliest, or Monday.

Oops, yes look out for the automoves! For the many macemen around and about York this is prob a blunder.

[offtopic] How did the Stanley game go? (No coverage tis side of the pond, and I'm too lazy to look on North American periodicals.)

[offtopic] about the [offtopic] Bananas are good for you.

^^ Haven't had a chance to look at the save yet but sounds good. :goodjob: Are you planning to play a few more turns? If not, could you post the save to the Progress and Results page?

@ enKage - if you can play your set just let me know.

I'm out of play till friday (working ;/)

Here's the summary:

My team, the Vancouver Canucks (40th year in the league, third try for the Stanley Cup), faced off against their nemesis, the Chicago Blackhawks in round one. The Blackhawks put the Canucks out of the playoffs the last two years in a row and last year were the champions.
This round went the full seven games, Canucks won the first three then lost three straight for a final, winner take all seventh game. It was tied after regulation time and in the second overtime period, the Canucks scored to move to the second round. It was a very exciting series!
Then, the Canucks won the next two series to put them in the final round against the Boston Bruins. After two games, the Canucks are up 2 games to zero. The series continues tonight in Boston.
Go Canucks Go!!

Hi,

another [offtopic] question!

But would be interested to hear what ya'll do for work? In my imagination I wonder if all you N American (and all) guys are computer game designers or pc pros?

As for me I'm between jobs! Argh, it seems to be my modus operandi! On the plus side I have more time for more Civ :D, in between doing job apps, voluntary work and being a househusband!

Heh. I am not a N American, but still close to the jobs you suggested.

I am working in a design studio in front of a big expensive smooth monitor, we design bicycles and baby strollers. Another part of my job is photography. To be a photographer is sexy ;)

Thats good initiative TBH, Dude - kind of "get used to know the team" :)

We have 1119/2796 tiles required of the total 4368 tiles for 64% of a standard map. Willem has about 743 tiles. In about 20 turns that number will increase to about 1243 as all the captured cities gain culture.

Willem has about 743 tiles. We require an extra 434 tiles if we capture all of Willem's land and wait +/-15 turns for city cultural expansion.

We have about 46% population requiring 52%. This shouldn't be a problem.

How long has Willem been in WHEOOHRN? He has 3 airships in Delft. How much of a problem will these be and what's the best way to counter them?

I too, have been a househusband. I am an early retired teacher now pursuing interests in science, ancient geometry, early civilizations and I paint. My avatar is a painting. I live in BC, Canada on a small island north of Vancouver - population less than 1000. My wife and I have a small seaside resort and enjoy a fabulous view. :)

Afraid I did not look out for WHEOOHRN. That's one of the new things I have learnt from playing this game, so will try and keep an eye on in future.

Likewise, with those airships, that's one thing I forgot to spot. (The AI doesn't know how to use airships :p, does he?)

What's your assessment of a successful campaign? Do you think we have enough material to launch one next turn, or the one after? Bearing in mind we hope to pip the dwarves (hopefully, as far as we know?) How many turns are we up from dwarves?

Good question about whether to launch the attack against Willem immediately or after dealing with Cathy. I wonder who Willem has in mind as his victim? It would be good if Willem and Joao were at war. We could then decide to go domination or conquest. And if Willem declares on us, there is less war weariness. Hmm.... :crazyeye:

I've gone through all the cities and plan to whip and draft like mad, set up for the attack on Willem but mainly concentrate on putting Cathy out of her misery.

I don't plan to play a long turnset but would like a savvy general to handle the later warmongering, so enKage and justjohn can finish up. :goodjob:

To answer the off-topic question, I'm a math (associate) professor teaching calculus (and related topics) to engineering students. And I live in Oslo, the capital of Norway.

I have recently moves, which is why I've been extra busy for the last couple of months. And now I have a large stack of math exams to grade. Therefore I'm not sure how much I will be able to do until I'm done grading those papers.

Bring back the heads on spears! :ar15:

In for the kill would be my two pennies! (Even if we go backwards against Willem, by delaying too long it'll be the dubious prize of last place anyhow - not that I want to put you under too much pressure Keath!) Fingers crossed for DOW v soon then.

Happy hunting!

I'm ready to go but have a couple of questions for anyone following along:
1. We get Mil Sci next turn and have an excess of gold.
2. I'm planning to turn research off after Mil Sci unless there's something else we need?
3. I wonder if it is possible to get Joao up to declaring on Willem. We have Chemistry and gold and he is presently at +8. What could we gift him?
4. I'm not planning to declare on Willem this turn but continue the setup.

Any ideas?
