I'm just about to wrap up a Warlord victory with me playing India vs the Byzantines. One thing I've had to pay closer attention to at the Warlord level is gold. I literally reached the point twice in the game where I was loosing gold each turn even at 0% research! Corruption was very high and taking most of my gold.

Anyways, I thought since I had a good sized army, to attack a Byzantine city. I went in with archers and spearmen and horsemen and trounced them. My gold went up for a while, then I started having the same problem again. So I promptly wiped out 2 more cities.

I am now at 63% of world, very close to a domination victory @ ~ 1240AD :D

I feel even a victory would not be too satisfying, because I know there must be a better way to have handled my gold, before going into such a downward spiral. The military victories were satisfying tho. :ar15: Also keep in mind I had expansionist goals from the start, so I was cranking out settlers 3 or 4 at a time for a while.

I'd be interested in hearing what you all have to say about this game summary. Thanks.

Hmmm, yes, I would suggest Courthouses, and upgrading to Republic as early as may be possible, this reduces the corruption a great deal.

I think I understand what happened now. Basically by expanding at such a fast rate, I did not give my workers time to put in roads. I stretched my empire pretty far away from the capital as well. Anyways, thanks to you and to Marcus for the help. :goodjob:

You should build strong core around your capital, that will be your most productive area.
