Occasionally I like to make "scenarios" and let my friends play them

to make thses "scenarios" I usually start a game and then let it play out, then after a while I wb it to balance things

I find this gives it more interesting then just sticking cities in random places (its cool when Ethne the White has been converted to Ashen Veil, and Os-Gabella to The Order)

However, for my latest I want to make Basium a choice to play as, but if I make the mercurian gate now, I need to know if when I save it as a WB, they would be playable, if they aren't, I will stop building it

Thanks

I'd wager that if you build it, and they enter, they do so as playable. But I'm not sure, this isn't my specialty. Save a backup and try it.

They would enter when the Mercurian Gate is built, but not if it is just placed there in worldbuilder. You could give a civ the Fanaticsism tech and a Great Engineer, exit worldbuilder, hurry the gate, and then go back to worldbuilder if you like.

You could also place a civ in the scenario by editing the worldbuilder save in notepad if you like/know how to.

Meh, wish I knew how to edit things like that, no skill, and no time to learn

That is a good suggestion though, thanks!

of course, now I have the same problem with the Infernals :(

EDIT: Do great priests automatically research new techs? I've never tried it in FFH since I'm always building alter of Lunas

You can just give someone the Infernal Pact tech in worldbuilder to bring the Infernals into the game. For some reason it shows the popup asking you if you want to switch and adds the units immediately, but the new civ doesn't show up on the drop down menu until you leave worldbuilder and then come back.

I don't know how the AI decides how to use its great people.

Be careful with the Infernals, If they are already in the game and the option Compact Enforced is not on the game will spawn another set of infernals.
