Assuming the army is strong enough that their regular units will not attack it, will the Sid AI bombers attack an army?

This is what I might be facing in next on my Sid game. I need something to build on as I don't have cavalry yet.

Has anyone made it to nukes on Sid yet? Will the Sid AI nuke stacks in their own territory?

I hate sid & deity bombers, because the Ai actually uses them properly. Very, very annoying things to deal with. As for the questions, yes, the AI will bomb an army that is at full health, and if they reduce it enough, the ground units will attack. As for nukes, I'm 99% sure the AI won't use them on units in its own territory. I think using a nuke counts as attacking 9 squares, not just one, I think I've had a case where I tried to nuke an enemy stack that was at a border, and one of the 9 squares belonged to another civ, and I got the 'are you sure you want to declare war?' prompt.

Thanks for the reply. This is bad. I wonder how fast my armies will heal and how many bombers they have. Somehow I think they will have too many bombers - which I will verify with spies when the time comes.

Oh well I have another backup plan that will require some luck, nukes, a nice stack of units and ROP violation. :groucho:

nukes + ROP violation match up nicely. I won a SS game where I was 3rd of 3 left in the tech race, but keeping up thanks to the discount of being the last person to know it. Had ROPs with both, had 20-30 modern armours in a stack by both capitals, and had 3 or 4 nukes for each. As soon as they started building their 10th part, nuked and destroyed both capitals, and got my SS finished before they could get all 10 bits built again. Was fun, although I got sick of hearing nukes land. The AI will target your resources with them, I don't remember a nuke hitting a city.
