Simultaneous construction

Biggest problem in game that slows down gameplay is that cities have to build building as well as units. Ever since Civ2 Ive had problem mid game where I have to develop my cities and therefore stop fighting and go into "peaceful era" where I just focus on city development. I belive there should should be separate places where units and building are build. That way you can focus on developing cities at the same time as you develop your military.

Acculy there should be 3 different development areas.
- Cities should build buildings and districts
- Disctrics should build units (like once you have barracks you can 'train' your units there instead of in the cities)
- Wonders should be build by workers out in the world around cities.

This way, the progress could be done simultanius and would increase gameplay.

i like that concept but it need special mechanics that may make the game harder or not civ anymore.

here is what i have seen in another game using this concept.

- each unit/ building would need a limit of turn to be built. (wonders and project are the exception.)

as a "civ" example, the warrior cost 40 production and is set to be built in 5 or more turn.
Therefore only accepting up to 8 production point per turn. extra production would go to the second in the queue.

- when buying a unit, you buy the resources but the time it take to make the unit would not disappear. it is to avoid player to circumvent the production's turn limit by focussing only on the economy.

a a civ example, if it take you 10 turn to make a warrior (your city having 4 production / turn) you can reduce it to 5 turn to make a warrior.

however that would be a big change compared to the "buy" option we already have in civ where, if you have enough money, you can buy a unit and multiple buildings in the same turn in the same city.

so , yes the concept is great but it could have a bad impact on the community.

Deciding whether to produce a unit, a building, or try for a wonder is one of the great elements of civ. It is what makes the game so challenging and differentiates it from other games with simultaneous construction.

I still think building units makes no sense. Like why does it take any time to build a warrior. You're literally just handing sticks to people... Units should be "drafted" instead of "built" or my favorite way to play civ 5 was on a mod where it was science was very slow, but building units and building were very fast. Then i also added another mod which made units built even faster and more mods which added tons of new buildings as well as building upgrades.
Come to think about it another way to go about it now that we have districts is allow cities to build national projects. Instead of building individual libraries you build a library project in one city which build libraries in every city with a campus district or gives you a huge boost in production for them.

I just think civ should be all about building big stuff like wonders, districts, national projects. Whenever I build a shrine in a brand new city I built in the 20th century. I just picture a president stamping his foot "No we need to build a shrine there NOW. I dont care how many turns" lol
