In a recent game my SSC went beyond size 36 and I discovered that all subsequent citizens had to be entertainers - is this normal or is it a bug in my version (ToT)? I had sufficient food (without caravans) for the city to keep growing but could not change these entertainers to scientists or taxmen. If I can't get more scientists it obviously lowers the value of having a big SSC (except for population points scoring).

I've noticed that too!!

Not only in Civ 2 Tot but on Civ 2 Classic too!!

So i think that's "normal"!!

Anyway i would like to have a professional answer to the same question!!

I know of no patch for it,
It could be caused by one of two limitation:
either built that they be Elvi, or
The graphical interface does not allow access to citizens/specialists over 36 to alter them, which is what I suspect.

I'm not sure about this...but i think that those Entertainers that can't be changed, don't even produce any luxuries!!

I've had a similar problem with this but found that due to the size of the elvis graphix that it is sometime hard to pinpoint the exact location to change it to a taxman/scientist.

Altering the display setting may help.....

Only the first 16 specialists have an effect on your city and civ. Beginning with the 17th, they have no effect. Your SSC could thus have 16 scientists plus the 21 workers producing arrows. Hardly what I would call suffering!:p
