slowing technology?

is there a way to slow the above? even at epic level i find it too fast it would be nice to spend longer in certian historic periods?

Its probably not that your're researching too fast, but that once you research you trade away the tech for 2 to 3 others, so your really advancing 3 times as fast as you would without tech trading. Try shutting off tech trading, it makes the game much more interesting or try my OpenTech trading model that makes it a bit different.
