Hi,

I get no speech or music, except some music at the main menu.

Ambiance and sound effects are fine.

If I play the opening movie in Windows Media Player, I do get music and speech.

Windows Vista SP2
Dell Studio XPS 435MT 64 bits dual core 2.67 HGz 6 GB
Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.5697

I guess you tried various settings in the sounds?
Do you both have some more extended sound system, dolby surround, EAX 3.0?

I tried settings, HD audio, ATI HD Audio, no other I have...
Nothing, it is mute - I play though, I just would like to have sound.

My MBoard is Asus ASUS P7P55 LX (that has the HD Audio sound)
video now is a Asus EAH4350 512MB

Hmmm, interesting. I definitley had audio last night (this morning that is) just after it unlocked, but don't remember any music or leader voices when I played this morning after the patch, athough I still had sound effects. I will have to double check. I didn't change any of the settings between sessions.

Playing in DX11, ATI card through HDMI to the TV.

Edit: must have been my memory this morning as I have music and speach this evening.

I reinstalled the game (full with the 17-ish patch), and problem solved! :)

Not only music and sound is OK, but also I can use saves, too
(as it turned out, I could not load a saved game, that was was another big problem)

So now it's all good :goodjob:

I am having the same problem. No music or speech. I notice we have something in common:

Realtek HD Audio

Reinstalling does NOT work

I am just back to report sad news:

Though with reinstall I could have a play, the next day it went all wrong:
game does not start, stops with exe-errror after the intro. :(

OK, well, I sent my PC to be examined - maybe it is my rig's fault...
I will come back this weekend to report about the situation...

As always, I had to solve this myself.

I finally found a downloadable new Realtek driver (R2.19, at Guru3D.com), and for the first time I can now hear everyone speak, as well as the music. :)

There are newer versions still at Realtek's own site, but downloading from there does not work; also there seems to be a problem with the very latest driver versions in some games, so I will keep R2.19 for now.

R2.19 didn't solve the problem for me. I had and still have no sound after the intro movie (which is a simple WMV file). I run Vista 64, downgraded to R2.19 last night an updated to R2.53 just a few hours ago...still perfect silence. All other sounds in Windows and other games still work flawlessly, though.

All four volume sliders in the audio options are set to 100. But here is an interesting thing, when I change the volume settings, click "Accept" (or maybe "confirm", I am not sure, I play the German version) and re-enter the audio options, all four sliders returned to 100.
