Some newbie questions ...

Hi all, I have some problems I'm not be able to resolve using the manual and the Civilopedia:

1) How can upgrade my units ?
2) How can I put units out of an army ?
3) How the culture in loosing/gain cities works ? to be more precise:
- is important that all my cities will be connected in a big cultural area ?
- is the cultural value of the city or the one of the empire that is important ?
4) a trade route can use both sean and road connection ?
5) there is somewhere a more detailed guide than the one I found in the box. In particular a place where the real rules of the game (how the things works) are wroten ?

1. The unit must be in a city with a barracks, and you must have the required resources for the new unit. Activate the unit, and a lightning bolt button will appear at the bottom of the screen. If you activate a unit and pres Shift+U, it will upgrade all units that meet the requirements.

2. You cannot remove units from an army.

3. Cultural assimilation of cities is far from an exact science. Lots of theories, no answers. Make sure you have enough culture to solidify your borders, or the AI will plop cities in every gap you leave.

4. Yes. For sea trade you must have a harbor and a visible path between it and the AI civs harbor. You cannot trade across ocean squares until you discover navigation. Land routes require your capital to be connected to the other civs capital by roads.

5. I think there is a strategy guide for sale, but I am not sure.

Use this site..do some searching here. My game has improved so much from all the info people post here. The manual blows and has errors. There is an official strag uide..I have never bothered to pick it up. My questions got answered by searching this site. Saved me some jung.

"strag uide"..what the? strat guide. I should proof better.
