I don't like using bombardment if i want the city. This is a holdover from PTW because i think units take the first bombardment in C3C. Correct me if i'm wrong.
I used to rarely use arty to attack cities because I didn't want to destroy the improvements. Now, in C3C, the units take all bombardment until they are all redlined, so I find myself bringing plenty of arty now.
i also love TOW infantry. specially used in a stack, their bombardment makes them VERY good defenders, that can be aiurlifted. Saved me at least 3 cities in my current game where i suddenly got in a world war with 2 completely undefended colonies.
