Something's wrong with Machu Pichu

The description says it can be built in a city within two tiles of a mountain. Nobody has built it yet, I'm quite sure I'm the first to get Currency. So why can't I build it in Guangzhou? I was really looking forward to using it for tons of gold.

That's my thinking. He doesn't own the mountain so he can't build it.

Yeah it has to be within your borders. Mountains are usually hella expensive to buy (probably enough to cancel a dozen turns of the actual effect), so I'll usually plant the city next to a mountain if I am planning on building it.

I'll keep that in mind next time. I can get enough gold anyway. And with the expanding I'm planning to do it will pay off in the long term.

Get a settler to the E or even SE of the mountain and build a city. That would put the mountain in your borders, and slow down the AI also. Preferably before they get the Oasis next time.
