Space and Arms Race

There have been a few long since dead threads covering this but I have a new idea. Well first I should point out the problem, In civ3 you discover a tech build what you need to build and so on but there isn't anything like the nuclear arms race or the cold war or the naval build up between France, England, Germany, and America after World War 1 and before World War 2.

My idea is simple you would build Small Wonders that could be built once by one civ. That would give a overall bonus to the unit specified (ie Stats go up or start at a higher level like Elite instead of veteran with barracks). There would be different wonders concerning different type races. I will give My main Examples

Industrial Age Naval Arms Race- Whoever built the specified wonder would get the bonus
Nuclear Arms Race- Nukes would get better stats against the SDI and what not also with this nuclear subs would be allowed to carry more even if they can already carry alot

My idea on the space race is this. Many space wonders, Like the first orbit, First satelite, First Moon orbit, First Moon Landing, -----Extras in case of Alpha centuari add on, First Inter System Survey Ship, First Alpha Centauri Lander, First Centauri Colony, these last few were only if there was alpha centauri stuff in there------------These ideas would draw out Arms Race and Space Race
 
I like the idea of an arms and space race, because that was what was happening all during the Cold War. However, all of those space wonders...?
 
each normal space wonder would do something different things the first orbit would allow building of the rest, satelite would givew you the map, drop the moon orbit useless, the moon Landing would be most exspensive (excludeing the centauri ones) and would give science and cultrul bonus
 
I'd been thinking along similar lines - specifically regarding planetary colonization. Wonders to represent the Moon Colony, the Mars Colony, etc - giving the civ that gets it some sort of bonus. A good way to represent a space race.
 
The nucular race I love, I think that each civ should have to build the manhatten prodject, I mean if the U.S.'s Manhatten project gave every civ nukes WW2 might have been the apocolips

this isnt what i meant, i dont want any futureistic space crap i want only things like stuff that has happened, i dont mind a scenerio with these but not the core game, as i want to keep it historical
 
Nuclear race is good, but I agree with norwegianniking when he said about everybody have the nuclear power after the first finish the Manhattan Project. The history has showed that this isn't true, only few nations know how to use the Nuclear power. And the nations who know today have spent hundreds of dollars. So giving so easy for all nations is horrible.

When you discovery nuclear power you have to choice between nuclear power for make bomb or power plant. Then the other nations can interfere if another nations is trying to build a bomb. Like the real life!!!

With the space, I agree with some people in the forum. I played CTP a few years ago, and the space city was terrible!!!! So you can improve the space run creating more possibility; like first man space. Satellite, spy satellite, wheatear satellite, travel to moon, and then mars, than Jupiter. Each planet would give more points, then after a certain point !!! Space run victory!!!

Yeah - I figured that would drive you nuts when I posted it. But I had been thinking along similar lines despite our differing paradigms - the idea is a good one.
