I thought of it, see my Feb 11 post on this thread, #275. The problem with Helicopters is that if they become successful, the air force will want to take them over. And enemy fighter planes and ground to air missles are a threat. Cause helicopters are noisy and slow. They do have potential in an air supremacy situation, expecially as tank busters.
And the medical evacuation use saves lives and builds morale.
They are a lot harder to fly than fixed wing aircraft, which is why the army uses warant officers rather than lieutenants.
