Yeah. From what I've played on Xbox, it is a great game. If I had money, I'd get it for the GameCube - I've heard that's the only other console version that comes close to the Xbox version.
The PS2 commericial still cracks me up. "Now redefined to push your Playstation 2 to the limit."
Don't they mean: "Now stripped down to push your Playstation 2 to the limit."?

Really! The PS2 may start having a hard time keeping up with XBox and GCN.It certainly looks intriguing, though. I'm not a big fan of that genre, but that'll probably be my next game.
BTW, how much difference is there between the different versions of this game?

Xbox has groundbreaking, truly amazing lighting effects. Gamecube's are about on par, if not a little toned down. They say PS2's come NO where near in comparison, even with Gamecube. They had to totally redo the graphics engine for PS2 - that's how bad it is. GC they just had to port the engine, but PS2 is a totally new engine.

It's becoming appearant in almost all multi-platform games now. PS2's graphics are extremely primitive compared to GCN and Xbox, plus PS2 has higher load times. From what I hear, PS2's version of Soul Caliber 2 is the worst out of the three too.
Didn't PS2 come out before the rest? That's probably why it's behind the times. 
But Splinter Cell is awesome. I just aquired it myself. It's sweet.

You have no idea do you. Good graphics don't make a good game. Gameplay does. I just read a review of splinter cell in a ps2 mag where they say the ps2 version is better than the xbox version. Their reasoning for this is the fact that there is more stuff in it than in the xbox version. There are 30 minutes of new cinematics, binoculars on the goggles(not on xbox), a whole new mission of 4 levels, on-screen alarm counter, and direct access to the lock pick.
The xbox may have slightly 'prettier' graphics, and the ps2 has a slightly slower frame rate, but these hardly impact on gameplay at all. And gameplay is the important thing.
Apparently us ps2 owners are getting are much richer experience.
It was given 10/10 and was compared to mgs2 (which is a great game).

Maybe because it's a (gasp) PS2 Magazine!
Gameplay matters more than graphics, I agree, but in Splinter Cell, all three versions have their own exclusives. I can't think of all three off the top of my head, but some have better cut-scenes, some have extra missions, and some have extra stuff. Because of this, gameplay for all three versions is about equal. That's when graphics and framerate matter, which is where PS2 is lacking.

I beleive GC has some of those features too, Thrawn. I was merely commenting on the graphics, not the gameplay.

Anybody else smell a PS3 coming up?Each magazine tends to put its own spin on things, in obvious direction. For example, ever see Nintendo Power say a PS2 game is better than a Nintendo game? Or a PS2 mag claim a Nintendo version of a game is superior? (If you actually do, write a letter of thanks to the editor for his honesty
) This seems to be just another example.

Uh oh, not the fanboy discussion again. All fanboys are bad, period. PS2's is least guilty, but at least Nintendo fanboys are being controled.
