split the OT forum

It isn't just Mods who object. I do, and I'm no mod. I'd rather browse through one forum than two. It ain't broke.

Yeah, but who is to decide which thread is nonsense and which is intelligent? You, me, the mods? Whole pages would be filled with discussion on this matter!

If I push your reasoning beyond: should nonsensical posts in intelligent threads be deleted then? should we get rid of intelligent remarks in nonsense threads?

If it did happen (which I'm sure it won't) then the nonsense forum could easily get way out of hand. That's just one of the many arguments against the idea.

the nonsence forum would contain threads like:
What countries are represented here?
What's the coolest attribute of a vehicle?
How did you decide on your forum name?
Your favorite cola?
funny pictures
babe thread

- not that these are bad, just that they are near pointless (exept perhalps the babe thread) and indications of bordom. they are still worth posting on.

the Intelectual discution forum would contain:
Iraqi Weapons Violations
FoxNews comes out of the closet
When Will China Emerge From Communism?
Dictators in general: are they so bad?
Bush and the Stars. A long read but a good one
War thread

Maybe I misunderstand this. You wish to create two forums. One of which is people discussing things they cannot change and the other of which is people discussing things they cannot change.

That is an interesting application of elitism.
