Spontanious Exiting of game

The game sponaniously exits (the window closes) and it sends me back to windows. This has happened to me playing other games too, its very annoying. I just go back to the save file and play, but hopefully they fix it in the patch.

Yep . many people have this problem... try using other verison of video drivers...

My problem isn't as bad as most people from what I read, I can usually play for at least 2 hours before anything happens, unless I get to multiplayer and then crashes happen more frequently.

Hopefully the PATCH will fix this for most people!!! (Hurry Up Firaxis)

Same problem, i'm playing the game click a button ( unit, city, action,...) my sound start's losing it and i chrash to desktop. I've already tried : no sound, elder driver, reinstall game,....

I can play the game for about 1 maybe 2 minutes no.

Could be an overheating problem, x700 pcie system has recently started slowing down, flickering and random showing artifacts before finally crashing out of games. This happens between 5-15min intervals. After a little investigation I discovered the fan on the GPU heatsink had ceased functioning, this causes no issues on the desktop but when I try to run a game it quickly overheats and bottles it. I attempted to operate today but haven't done any good, luckily I have a spare system with a 9800pro agp which is more than happy to run Civ.

By the way, what you are describing is also known as a Crash to Desktop ("CTD") so if you were not familiar with the acronym, you might have missed other threads reporting the exact same problem.
