Few years ago my fav was 2.d4 but then i saw some Dvoretzky's games and decided to play this one.:)

Naturally,I would prefer a Winawer.Smyslov and Botvinnik played this in their match of 1954.Staunton played it eons before them although his analysis came off of Sicilian line.

You like Botwinnik?:) i have replayed almost all of his games (in total 4 heavy tomes)! Still my all time favourite player remains Jose Raul!

Capa is probably the most naturally gifted player ever.Too bad he was a little lazy.Too bad he played Alekhine ;)His mini combos are legendary.

My favorite "Soviet" players are Keres and Tal.2 opposites. Both players were "held back" somewhat by the Soviet chess hierachy. Not Russian enough I guess.

Then you have probably read "White and black" written by Alexander Kotov (also a great chess player) - it is a biographic novel about Alekhine's life and about his matches. Wonderful story (but sad though)! :)

No I havn't read that book.Alekhine was smart enough to know even he could not beat the great Capa twice :)
