Starting strategy

Well I have played a few noble games now didn’t finish them since I like to start things and figure out what is the best way to start. The first few games I started I didn’t have much of a clue but later on I managed to do a little better. Here is a strategy I used and most of the time it works out fine I would like to know what others think of this and why this is a total freak strategy or what can be improved.

First when I start the game I play continents large on noble as I said before. Most of the time I picked Persia for being cre/exp don’t know how this works out with other civs.

Then I start and I have a settler and a scout, if I am in a really bad starting position I move else I build it right where I start or after one move. With my scout I search around for a good settlercity (somewhere with lots of food) and if I am lucky my capital is as such a spot.

Settlercities I build near places where I can get lots of food flood plains are great for this with some nice farms they really pop out quickly.

First I get a warrior in my capital then at least 1 other warrior and after that I keep producing warriors till my pop in the capital is 3. At point I get 1 worker which will build farms where possible near my settlercity.

Meanwhile depending on the resources I have I only research worker techs to hook up cows or fishes. Then with as less possible of worker tech as possible I head for writing. After writing I make a choice if I run for the alphabet and move on to philosophy, but I rather research to code of laws, since then you get the caste system which is pretty useful.

Well lots of turns pass and the settlercity is pumping out mostly settlers while other cities build extra defence/escorts and workers. With the settlers I of course try to hook up as many resources as possible since the number of cities you make is maxed.

Once you reach code of laws you are the first to reach it and you are near the maximum number of cities or you reach the boundaries of your neighbours. Then I immediately change to the caste system and depending on what I want turn the extra food in the settler cities into artists/mercs/sci. The Confucian missionary I send to a rival civilization who doesn’t have a religion yet.

Well that’s about what I do I hope to get some advice thanks in advantage,
Dragoul
