Why does Statue of Zeus require ivory? Is there any historic significace behind that?

@Scuffer: I guess the game developers chose some random unit for this Wonder. I know of no link between SoZ and cavalry.

There could be a possible link to Alexander and his cavalry. They were very effective. I think he called them companion cavalry. Alexander also fancied himself the son of Zeus and travelled to more than one temple of zeus to consult oracles to see if he truly was the son of zeus. He went to Tyre and then to one in egypt. They replied in the affirmative in egypt, so says alexander, the only witness. That's the link I see between zeus and ancient cavalry.

The civilopedia entry for ancient cavalry mentions Alexander the Great, so there could be a connection there.

On a related note - the Civilopedia also have a short summary on the Statue of Zeus, including the fact that it is made out of ivory.

Thus, it would explain why you need ivory to build it.
