Steam and merged GNK-BNW

I made the apparent mistake of purchasing both GnK and BNW off Steam a while back and now have the problem of mods not working because they either want only GnK or only want BNW.

When I go to the cache directory I see the Merged DB file but I know that if I deleted it the game will just replace it as soon as I bring it back up. So is there a way around this issue or do I need to do what I should have done in the first place and purchased a disk version and have avoided Steam all together?

You can select or deselect any DLC, including the expansions, from the Main Menu within Civ 5. I think it's within Other, then DLC, then use the check boxes. Don't feel bad. It took me months to find this.

Unfortunately, there is no way around steam. I have the Physical copies myself. Steam is a requirement since day one, for all versions.

If you load both GNK and BNW, you just get BNW with the civs/scenarios from GNK, that's it - the GNK features were all available in BNW as well. BNW mods should work fine.
