Strongest/Weakest AI Civs

As of yet I've finished a precious few games, so I'm not really in a very good position to judge the AI Civs. But if I were to drop a few quick guidelines as to which Civ make do best and worst in my games I can only point out one distinctive "winner" and one "loser".

The Romans always seem to bugger up royally and end up with some small plot of useless land from which they foolhardily attempt to wage war on their neighbors ( such as me ) and then quickly end up very dead. Even if I am not involved they always never seem to make it even to the Industrial age.

whilst...

The English always seem to make do well. They grow, they expand, they trade and they fight, and all with brilliance in my games. There always seems to be a huge blob of orange color on the map whenever I look there, currently ( my latest game ) even larger than the cute pinkish blob of the burgeoning French empire. Though I *will* win the colonializing race of the small backwater islands we located! Ehrm, more to the point though.

Indians tend to do well, Americans tend not to. I could say Abe is a bit to meek on the diplomatic, but then Gandhi should end up for worse as well, but he doesn't. Hmmh. A mystery 'tis.

Anyways, I'd say it's mostly depending on random factors, not so much one Civ being "worse" than another.

I noticed a big difference between Japan/China and the US/England
during wars. Japan and China have well protected cities and alot
of military. US/England have more cities and a much weaker military.
Fighting Japan/China is pain if they had a better start than me.

When I played, Rome was the biggest civilisation, Japan was also big.
And Russia really ends up weak, but perhaps because I hate it and always try to attack them :) .

It seems pretty random to me. The only thing that I can always say for sure is that the civs that are right next to me are usually the weakest not too far into the game :)

In most of my games though, the following civs have never been at the top for any length of time:

1. Germans
2. Romans
3. Greeks

These civs usually do well in my games:

1. Chinese/Japanese
2. Russians/English/French

I tend to play Babs and Persians 90% of the time.

And no one mentioned the Egyptians yet! In all my games for the last month, they've always been there, always the largest civ and those most arrogant!

"Hello, here's a deal, give us this or that and we won't crush you" while the advisor says "the Egyptians army fears our xxxxxxx" lol. Anyways, they've always been trouble for me ;) The Chinese too, often. I've found the Zulus easily manageable (their impis don't resist long to my cavalries!! mwahahhaha). The Americans usually do well, even with a small empire, and we seem to always be on good terms (except maybe my current game). England too does well, especially in my current game on the huge world map: they were stuck on their islands for so long they had nothing better to do than build 4 wonders and lots of culture.. Even my people are impressed with theirs!
