Just because you’re a new to the forum doesn’t mean your not new to the game or that your points aren’t valid I just thought I would mention that I noticed a few comments directed at people like myself surely adding to the community is a good thing.

I’m afraid I have problems also running the game my specs are a Nvidia 256MB 6800GT PC express graphics card, 1024MB Memory and a AMD 64 3500 2.2GHz all up to date drivers etc on a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard, which you would imagine, is quite adequate to run the game.

At the moment I’m struggling just to like the new look of the game without having problems running it. Example I decided to play one of the scenarios the High Medieval one, settings at medium after about 10-15 moves just after I built the Oracle the movie struggled to play, afterwards the whole thing slowed down the mouse began moving slowly, units were jerky etc surely this is very strange. I accept that with computers there are many things that you can mistakenly do that cause problems but from reading the forums the problem seems to be random the only common factor is the game.

If you dont mind not seeing the in-game movies, try turning it off.

In your C:\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CivilizationIV.ini,

try these,

; Enable Trilinear Filtering for the Minimap
MinimapTrilinearFilter = 0

; Allow Screenshots. May affect performance on some video cards
AllowScreenShots = 0

; Specify whether to play in fullscreen mode 0/1/ask
FullScreen = ask
(In case you want to try windowed mode, help with some and not others)

; Set to 1 for dynamic animation paging
DynamicAnimPaging = 0

; Set to 1 for no in-game movies
NoMovies = 0

I've attacted a text file containing my ini file, make sure you backup your ini file before making any changes to it.

EDIT: This is my current .ini file that I'm running. I'm getting somewhat good gameplay with minor lags, a CTD here and there, but few. Read my signature for my system specs.

Thanks I will try that,but you would imagine I should be able to run it.Bloody PC games you got to love them.

Your specs seem like it should, the main problem hitting most people is the fact that their graphic processor is not able to handle the load, even with a lot of graphic memory, though that's not true with everyone. Some people with extremely great specs have posted problems.

Some people have suggested memory leaks throughout the game whether it be leaders' head portrait poppin up or something else.

If you have time, try the ini file tweak, make sure you make a back up of it in case it doesnt work or doesnt make a big difference in gameplay. If it works, please post your results. Good luck.

I tried what you said but the file remained the same. I was trying to load a saved game I assume this was the reason anyhow thanks for the help but unfortunately I can’t stand the look of the game in fact I think I hate it. I’ll give it a break for now and come back for another look after the patch.
