I know that this is a stupid question, but it's been a while since I've played Civ2. I've downloaded several scenarios, but how do I play them? Which folder should they go in? Should I open the downloaded files a different way?

I think you can just unzip them to any folder as when you click to open a new scenario it should give you a chance to select the folder that the scenario should be in. Otherwise just do a bit of trial and error.

Start Civ2, select Play Scenario, and open then from the scenario path and the appropriate name.
Example:

You download a WW2 scenario!
Unzip it into ...\Civ2\scenario\WW2.
Open Civ2
Select Play Scenario.
Go to the folder you unzipped it into.
And select the WW2.scn file.

NOTE: If there are extra sound files coming with the scenario, they have to be unzipped into a subdirectory SOUND, e.g. ...\Civ2\scenario\WW2\sound.

Normally the zips you can download do this automatically for you!
:D

Lucky is right; however, Civ 2 has the ability to load a file from any directory.... it need not even be on the same drive or directory structure as Civ 2. However, the sound files are expected to be in the \sound directory.

Here are some examples:

E:\Alexandr\Sound
G:\This\Is\A\Nested\Directory\Alexandr\Sound
J:\Games\Civ2\Scenarios\Alexandr\Sound

PS, The same is true for normal saved games.... you can save/load those just about anywhere, on any media or hard disk, CDRW, Floptical, etc... as long as it is both read and write capable.
