I think the auction idea is excellent. You could also expand it to where we could bid on a strategic resource in an effort to obtain or deny a resource.

You know denying another civ access to a traded resource by buying it yourself is a good idea

Currently you can only trade for resources you dont have. Might be cool though if you see the English have two sources of iron and the Germans have none, and you have one if you could go ahead and outbid the germans on trading with england just to deprive them

Course you can accomplish the same thing with emargo's but thats got more nasty political consequences.

Oh and is there any way to currently find out who else is trading what with who? Like if England was trading Iron to Germany is there a way to find that out? (other than seeing germany building swordsman without a source of iron )
