Suggested Names for Roman Cities All the Same

I just started playing Civ3 and when playing the romans vs 7 other civs at chieftan level, the suggested name for every new city is Rome instead of the other Italian cities. Is this an option somewhere that I need to change or what? Thanks.

Hi - welcome to CFC.

It always uses the next name in the list. If you choose "OK" for Rome, then the next one will be given the next name in the list.

IF you already have one called "Rome" then it may be the bug where spaces on the end of the name cause it not to increment, but I've only ever seen that in scenarios (doesn't happen in the out-of-the-box game).
