Suggestion: 'Piece in the Middle-East' modpack

Hi all,

I wanted to suggest an idea for a modpack. It would be based on a middle-east map, where the civs are the current peoples that live there:
Egypt, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Iran (Persia?), Iraq (Babylon?), Turkey, Saudi-Arabia, Palestine (yeah, I know, it's a problematic one), etc.
The existing non-middleeast wonders should be replaced with appropriate ones. For example, instead of the Oracle you will have 'The Temple' or 'The Black Stone of Mecca'; the 'Manhattan Project' with 'Dimona Nuclear Reactor'; etc. (I'm originally from Israel and I don't know enough to give example of other cultures, feel free to fill-in).
I can't decide if the leaders should be ancient ones (like Cleopatra for Egypt and Solomon for Israel), or modern ones (like Saadat and Ben-Gurion).
The only design problem I see is that most of these civilizations ceased to develop, or even exist, for a long period of time in history. So it might be hard to find enough ideas for wonders, or special units... but still should be very interesting IMO.

And yes, there's a lot of desert involved... but alot of resources too :)

I like the idea very much. However, you might not need to start from the ancient age. Perhaps starting from the industrial age ?

If the mod is called Peace for MiddleEast then the leaders will have to be those modern leaders. ;) And maybe put the starting year as 1900 (I know there are some savegame editor that can edit the game year to starts in 1900).

To make this mod interesting, alot of changes will have to be made. Since you can't place city with the editor at the moment, you need to work around this. I would suggest the starting unit to be a settler, worker and a infantry.

While this is suppose to be a mod for peace, there are going to be alot of war (which is the case in real life, no peace without some war ;) ). So in order to make the mod interesting, you should allow culture victory, diplomatic, domination and conquest.

Its also important to lower the building cost of military units as the mod started late (assuming with 150 turns to 2050), This way, you can make it a fast and furious kind of mod. Rushing for time and land :D
 
My opinion is this should be a totally rechanged mod.
The farest technology limit should be the integrated defense for Israel (the arrow missile) and maybe we should add something sort of biological weapon and mass terrorism (or freedom fighting if you want to call it that way...) to the Iraqians and iranians.

To reflect reality, terrorist is a must. Its a sensitive issue no doubt but a must. If not, we might as well put in fairy godmother in the game :D

As to unit graphics, no worries. I believe haverlock is working hard on some of them (He already got Hind done) and I have already created the flc for Terrorist (no doubt a smoker, a unit created by a smoker :smoke: ).
