Suggestions for new Wonders

Machu-Pichu - Allows a city to be built on a mountain square or, alternatively, allows a city to remain hidden somehow (This wonder would provide a valuable effect for modders who wanted to somehow represent hidden cities such as Gondolin in a Silmarillion Mod). Becomes obsolete with flight. Could alternatively be used as a forbidden palace type minor wonder.

Angkor Wat - A huge religious complex in southeast asia. I haven't really thought about effects, any ideas?

Taj Mahal - Same as above.

Nazca Lines - ????

Moa Statues of Easter Island - ????

Statue of Liberty - Can't believe this one already hasn't been included. :p It can be used as a modern day Colossus that doesn't expire and/or gives bonuses for immigration (assuming immigration is implemented). Available only to Representative governments.

Eiffel Tower - Same as how it was done in Civ2. Bring it back! :)

Sacsayhuaman - This is a great Inca fortress which I think should be a minor wonder which provides 100% defense bonus (maybe more, maybe less) to the city it is constructed in. Expires with gunpowder.

International Space Station - Research bonus? Or maybe this is the wonder which allows the construction of a space ship to alpha centauri? The Apollo Program could be required for the construction of this and the Apollo Program's effects could be changed.

Marco Polo's Embassy - Remember this from Civ2?

Stone Henge - Perhaps gives 1-2 free techs upon completion?

Any others?

Machu Pichu: Making cities hidden probably gives rise to a few problems that wouldn't be good (ie, what if it's in your opponent's last city? If you're trying to kill everyone, then that causes major problems, unless you can still see the national borders - in which case it being hidden is mostly useless, since you can just infer where it is.) I'd suggest something like it needs to be built in a city with a mountain in its radius, and maybe provides a food bonus from the mountains (indicating the terracing)? Either that, or a defensive bonus.

Angkor Wat - well, it's a temple complex, so doing something with happiness and/or culture is probably viable. Increase the culture from temples, maybe?

International Space Station - As it's an international station, you would probably need multiple nations to help with this. Maybe change the diplomatic victory slightly to this? If you can get a majority of players in the game to assist with the ISS, you win? That would free up the UN for more interaction with the game. (peacekeeping missions, the like)

Just a few thoughts.

I'm sure Statue of Liberty was included in Civ2 as well, although I can't rememer the effect! Given my limited understanding of it (I hear it seems to have great ties to immigration, but really it's just a big statue if you ask me!) perhaps a suitable effect would be that the country that builds it assimilates foreign nationals into its culture more quickly? So when you capture an enemy city, the citizens change to your nationality faster (okay, this mostly sounds a bit too war-like given its place in history, but I still think it would be good).

And I do remember Marco Polo's Embassy - I think a return of this would be fun!

I would like to see a wonder that affects disease (wipes it out entirely in cities on the same continent, or perhaps cuts the chance of it happening in half) although I can't think of a suitable wonder right now.

Also, perhaps some form of "Nuclear Memorial". Restrictions might be that it must be built in a city that has been nuked, or that it must be built in the first city to be nuked, or that it can only be built by a civ that has been nuked (or perhaps the first civ to be nuked). Effects might include increased reputation (sympathy), or a turnly income (aid) - although better ideas would be appreciated!

The Panama Canal: give some trading benefits?

I would also like to see civ-specific wonders giving your civilization a boost in economy, science etc for 20(?) turns. A wonder that no other can build.

Stonehenge: The game starts later than this was built, right?

Standard Oil Company: Maybe a small wonder that generates gold from each oil spot in your territory.

Transcontinental Railroad: Small wonder, requires two coastal cities on different oceans. Decreases corruption in the higher corruption city, trade boost

Manifest Destiny: Can build Pioneers, settlers w/ 1.1.3 ADM, less corruption experienced in far-flung cities built by these.

---end serious ideas---
Linux: Quadruples science output of research labs in all cities. Citizen graphics become penguins.

Led Zeppelin: Permanent culture income of 9000000 per turn, every citizen happy.

Statue of Liberty, as I remember, gave you a 1 turn max time between government changeovers and gave you access to all governments. Machu-Pichu, give +1 food to all hills and mountains already producing food. Palace of Versailles, allows diplomatic victory. United Nations, other civilisation's attitude towards you is improved.

King Richard's Crusade, cause I loved the wonder movie in Civ 2. :D

My favorites were Leonardo's Workshop and Magellan's Voyage though.

<nostalgia> wonder movies </nostalgia>
