T&L card w/no T&L?

How is it that I have an ATI Raedon 7500 (i.e., a card that supports T&L accd. to srtest.com and many posts here), yet I am undeniably getting the symptoms of a computer without T&L (black map, leader eyes and faces)?

I tried the 2k fix, but seeing as I never got the rendering error, it (not surprisingly) didn't work.

I tried Sovz's temp fix, but all it did was create a blotch of visible land in the bottom left corner of my screen.

Any ideas are infinitely welcome, before my mildly ignorant computer knowledge makes me a criminal

Your card is the first generation of graphics cards that had TnL. The access protocol has since changed.

I have a 7500 as well and mine doesn't work either.
