As it has become quite apparent, I can see by the posts and the topics and the many threads that Civ 3 like its predecessors has caused us as gamer to re-evaluate our tactics and strategies.. the mark of a great game in my opinion. I think most of the people posting are veteran gamers of Civ in its many forms. I would like to know how all you gamers consider the "big picture" (strategy) and "the small picture" (tactics) in Civ3, and what are some of the most interesting diferences between Civ 3 and Original Civ, Civ 2, CTP, Cive Test of Time and Alpha Centauri?

One thing is, combat is different. You gotta think, and you gotta use combined arms. For such a simple combat model, it's really complex and effective at getting beyond the straight "firstest with the mostest" level of combat.

For some good thoughts on military tactics, I would recommend the "Sick of being Gen. Custer" thread here (did that work?)
