Tech selling question

Hey all, first time reader, first time poster here.

I have a question about tech selling. If you have a tech to sell to the AI, does it matter how close the AI is to getting that tech? For instance, if I want to sell Combustion to Russia, and they are 4 turns from researching it on their own, will they pay less gold than if they were 20 turns away?

P.S This is on Warlord, don't know if that makes a difference.

hard to prove but i very much doubt it except perhaps if they are one turn away since they offer it to me cheap if im one turn away.

This is the reason why I'm inclined to say, that this is the case.

I'm not sure about your first question, but I believe on higher difficulty levels the AI will be more stingy when trading with you, and will demand a higher price for the same item as on lower levels.
