Arphahat
Chieftain
I recently got the Conquests expansion and after playing a couple regular games, I decided to take a look at the Conquests. I decided to play through the intro scenarios just to get familiar with the concepts, and I noticed something odd.
In the third intro conquest, "New Alliances", I chose random and ended up playing the Netherlands. Well, on my first turn, I went to the diplomacy screen and traded Feudalism for Engineering with Portugal. I played a little bit, but then decided to start over. When I started over, I decided to play the Netherlands again. However, on the first turn, when I tried to trade tech with Portugal again, it refused the Feudalism for Engineering trade we made before. Does anyone have any insight? My guess is that it seems the starting tech for the other races is random, and maybe the other civs had engineering in the first game, making it worth less and considered an equal trade by Portugal? It would make more sense to me, however, if the trade would have just been accepted; wouldn't you want allies you are relying on for support to be equipped properly?
