I thought it would be sort of cool to have an expansion in the tech tree. Yes, I know, there have been a ton of suggestions about new technologies, tech tree expansions, etc., but this certain idea is a bit different: I was thinking that Wonders could possibly add expansions to the tech tree, and there were 2 Wonders that would be good for just that, those being Oxford University and the Great Library, since they both supply a lot of knowledge. I was also thinking that some currently existing technologies could be associated with Wonders as well, making them locked until the Wonder associated with them was unlocked. I was thinking that Oxford would supply some Industrial-Future Era technologies for late-game, and that the Great Library would supply some Classical-Renaissance Era technologies, thus making the Great Library better to make earlier in the game then later. Another good idea would be some Wonders made just for tech tree expansions. I only have 1 good idea, but here it is (note that Religious Beliefs is a tech I made up; it is explained near the bottom of the page):

St. Peter's Basilica
Prerequisite Tech (Tech that is required to build it): Theology
Associated Tech (Tech that is unlocked by building it): Religious Beliefs

Religious Beliefs is a tech that allows you to choose a religion for your Civilization. You can't make one, because there will be a list for you to choose from. They all end up having different effects, but they all boost your Culture by 5%. However, there are 3 religions that don't boost your Culture, and they are: Atheism, which boosts your Science by 5%; Marxism, which boosts your Production by 5%; and finally, Anarchism, which boosts your military's strength by 5%. Researching Religious Beliefs will allow you to make a new unit called the Priest, which instantly heals adjacent units that belong to you.

Well, that's my idea. I hope you liked it, and feel free to post ideas for new Tech Wonders (that's what I like to call them, at least) in the comments. This is SyscalineGaming, signing out.

Maybe not the Wonders but social policy choices could spawn two or three technologies per tree which have the benefit of (a) the Wonder associated with that tree, (b) a building associated with that tree and (c) a unit associated with that tree. As suggested by the OP, a fourth could be the ability to found a religion or perhaps access a specific religious tenet when founding/enhancing a religion?
