Ooorstrailier!
Welcome to the capital province, near the paridise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty! Doughnuts and preservative-drenched biscuits for all! I sacrifice some of my biscuit army for your general consumption.

OK, the first matter I am going to bring up is that of expansion. We are behind in expansion. For this reason I request the following queues:

Shen Ling: Warrior (for garrison), Warrior (for settler escort), settler (to take east iron, or north in case of war), warrior (for escort) settler, etc.

Zhi Gang: Granary - rush ASAP. though it would be best if we rushed at either 39 shields or 19 sheilds. please consider this. Follow granary with Warrior (as settler escort), Settler, and by then we should have iron, so Swordsmen, swordsmen, swordsmen. otherwise build 1 - 2 workers until iron appears.

Please tell me any corrections, or disagreements. I'd rather be proven wrong than see our country fade.

The seccond matter is that of where are the province borders? attached is a suggested map (it should be safe as an attachment). I made the provinces small, because we are in a crowded area. I know this isn't my job, but it is still in suggestion stage, so I guess its OK.

The final matter that I will bring up is that of trade maximisation. In the early stages NOTHING is more important to science than to optimise cities for trade. I will make the request that EVERY worked tile has a road on it. this is crucial to our success, as in the early game minor things are major. This is why I want Zhi Gang to build another worker in between its settler and the swordsmen. An early worker can be very beneficial. Hopefully we will have more cities, to drive army upkeep down.

(BTW please ignore the bad province names, they are just for reference)

GBM...

I think your build queue for Shen Ling should be modified slightly. During our strategy chat yesterday, we discussed this in great detail, but the long and short of it is essentially Warrior, Spearman, Warrior, Warrior, Warrior.

Also, I think the rushing-the-granary issue has changed since that poll was posted. As the threat of war from GCA is no longer imminent, the majority of people in attendance at the strategy chat believed that sacrificing the citizen would be a shame (considering all the commerce lost from such an action and the delay it would cause us in producing a settler in that town.

The small stack of Vet Warriors from Shen Ling can be used to coerce GCA to leave our lands, and go barbarian hunting NW of Shen Ling.

Finally, please move the provincial maps and other proposals from the Instruction thread. Since the DP is working under time constraints, we should keep that thread as short as necessary to relay your instructions to the DP.

Thanks for your continued hard work in the service of Fanatikou.

40J:
1)Sure, I'm just wondering when are we going to start building settlers? we cant put it off too long.

2)Sure, no rush in Zhi Gang. Maybe this city could be a settler factory until Shen Ling is ready.

3)I'll move the images immediately and start a seperate thread for them.

I agree... we do need some settlers soon. Fortunately, Shen Ling can grow very quickly once the other game tile is irrigated, so it won't take as long to replace the citizens that the settler takes with it.

Warrior, Spearman, Warrior, Warrior, Warrior, Settler

That is my suggestion.

OK so our next settler should be in eight turns, if I am correct, going by Goonie's and 40J's queues. I find that a little too long - I will be saying one less warrior before the settler, but one - or two - afterwards.

So the new queues are:

Shen Ling: Spearman (2), Warrior (1), Warrior (1), Settler (3), Warrior (1?), Warrior (1), Settler, Settler, Settler...

Zhi Gang: Granary (9), Settler (?), then by then we should have iron, so swordsman rush the place.

Worker instructions:

Irrigate both game, then build roads to the nearest iron.

To the eastern iron, it is five (5) tiles to the iron, consisting of two grassland, one hill, and two mountains (and an annoying GC warrior). To the northern iron it is seven tiles, consisting of one forest, two hills, and four plains. Lets figure out how long it would take to road there:

It takes two turns for an industrious worker to road on flat land, three to road on hills/forests, and five to road on mountains.

The eastern iron would take 17 turns of work (2*2 turns grasslandm 3 turns hill, 2*5 turns mountains) Plus six turns of movement, totalling 23 turns. With two workers it would take 16 turns. Three workers = 11 turns.

the northern iron would take 17 turns of work (forest, then four plains, then two hills) and plus seven turns of movement = 24 turns. With two workers, it would take 17 turns. Three workers = 12 turns.
In the most likely case, where there is a city on hill in the path, as there will likely be, and we use one worker, it will take 20 turns. to reach the iron.

What does that mean? I dont really know. But I sure hopes it helps make a decision. We could either head north and get iron sooner, head east and have another city - and a road to compliment - towards GC, or built two cities near both iron sources, and road to one of them.

The best way to organise two workers is to have them both start and finish at the same time. If a worker starts a two turn improvement on it's own, it will start the first turn, be working the second, and finish and move on the third. So it takes three turns to improve the tile and move off it. Start two at the same time and it takes two turns to improve the tile and move off it.

Actually, if the settler is more urgent, as I think it is, we could say:
Shen Ling: Spearman (2), Warrior (1), Settler (3), Warrior, Warrior, Settler, Settler, Settler...

I like it GbM.

OK then I will post these new queues in the instruction thread.

I would like to post a city placement poll for city #4, (as #3 has been decided) but that is the job of Domestic. So alert to domestic! Start a city #4 poll! And to save time, have all possible lolcations next to or on an iron source. The Eastern iron source has three possible sites, the north has nine, but most are too far away.

Here is a new province proposal, with a larger mountainous province, and the northern two merged.

(1700BC) There seems to be popular demand to switch straight to a settler, instead of building a warrior. What are the opinions on this?

I say we coordinate the building of the settler, and us reaching Size 5, that way, we can grow more quickly, and build settlers more quickly.

There has been talk of settling the settler on the gold now, instead of taking the Iron source. I give the DP the power to decide, if he - and the public - see it fit to get the extra gold. I think that we should set a laborer in Zhi Gang onto the gold, if it hasn't already been done.
