Is anyone working on making better terrain textures for Civ 5? Big Blue Marble, maybe? Most of the textures are OK, but the low resolution and blockiness of the mountain textures bother me a bit.

Because the graphic modpacks subforum is only for graphic modpacks, not for questions about them ;).

It's really on hold until we can actually mod terrains into the game

Oh, I didn't know the textures could not be edited. I saw a couple of mods (the one that changes road and rail color, and another that changes river color) that did something similar, so I thought it was possible.

They do so by simply replacing the actual files in the Game directory as opposed to overwriting them in a mod.

It've actually been possible to replace the terrain-textures with a mod for a long time. Develiverator did it first I think, you can add that CSV-file with all the texture-names, then either load DDS-files with the same name in the mod (VFS=true) or change their names in that CSV-file (still VFS=true for all new DDS-files).

I used it in my WH40K-mod (still working on it) to simply add copies of all the textures that were slighly less colourful. I'm not sure you could increase the resolution of the textures though but it might be possible. At-least you could replace the mountain-texture if you don't like it.
