Terrain type question

A) City defense. Hills give a 50% bonus.
B) If you build it on a Bonus Grassland, your city gets an extra shields when it hits size seven.
C) If the total gold on the tile + 1 is more than the default gold for your city (two normally, 3 for Commercial cities and seafaring coastals, 5 for Commercial metropolis), you get that amount of gold, not the default.
D) If the total shields on the tile is more than one (two if you're Industrious and have a Metropolis), you get that number of shields on the city tile.
E) Building on Flood Plains will give you disease as if you were working it.
F) Building next to a river or lake eliminates the need for an aqueduct.
G) The tile you build on is automatically cleared if the tile was forest or jungle.
H) The tile you build on should normally be a crap tile because you'll get at least 2 food, one shield, and one gold from it.

You can't build a city on a mountain, unless you change the rules. If you could, it would actually be the same as building a city on a hill, except you would have more powerful defensive position. However, mountains are usually surrounded by more mountains, which would limit the growth of the city.

I've tinkered with the Civ games for a long time now but never settled into any serious playing until recently. And don't worry, I'm going to start RTFM'in in a sec, just had a nice square I needed to take in a game I am playin right now and had a NOW reflex. eheh

That's what we're here for. Try the Quick Responses thread (stickied at the top of this forum) for quick and dirty questions like "I can't upgrade my warriors; what am I doing wrong?" Just tack yours on to the end and someone will answer it.
