There've been a lot of emails from users understandably frustrated with the new editor's not working, or disappointed that it's missing features.

For all that, I'd like to say "thanks" to Brad Oliver for getting the editor to us, and for stepping up to fix it for 10.1 so quickly. I'd say he's on our side.

Ditto on that! I've only been here a little while, but Brad is one of the guys wearing a white hat!

Thanks Brad!

I'm not complaing - All Hail Brad Oliver :king:
for a great job so far !

Yes thank you a lot Brad!!! I have been waiting for the Editor to come to our side of the tracks. :goodjob: You have made our Civ3 experience that much better!

And Thanks to Senecasax for his work on allowing us to add UNITS :)

Life is now good...and I plan on wasting my weekend away with Civ3 enhanced ;)

Me too ! :) .. once I can sort out errors editing-in my new unit graphics to the Civiliopedia "unit" and "unit_32.pcx" files in Photoshop 7 :(

I agree with all of the above. The Mac turn-based gaming community is incredibly lucky to have you working (paid/unpaid) on our behalf.

If ever you feel like it, mention the name of a worldwide charity and I'd be happy to make a local donation in your name. [I suggest this because I don't have a credit card, and it seems a bit crass to mention money. But I would like to do something worthwhile in such a time of turmoil.] I mean this sincerely and won't miss any 'funny' or emoticon-based comments from the rest of you.

A great idea.

Yup, thanx a bunch brad! It sure beats having to fire up VPC, and wait forever for the editor to do anything. Awesome work! :)

The day you decide to change jobs, the number of games ported to the mac drops by half...
BTW, could you give me a list? I known you ported CivIII, SMAC/X, I believe you ported Tropico and UT, but I know you did a lot more than that...

I believe he also ported AoE2 and the Star Wars RTS games.

A world without Brad Oliver would be too scary to even think of. But by doing everything in his god-like power for us mac-civers, I'd have to say, "One small step for Brad, one giant leap for Mackind" :D

I just have to say, "Three cheers for Brad. Hip-hip---hooray! Hip-hip---hooray!! Hip-hip---hooray!!!"

I didn't work on Tropico or UT. Tropico was done in-house by PopTop, and Glenda Adams and Ken Cobb of Westlake did Unreal/UT.

The commercial projects I've worked on include SMAC/SMACX, the cancelled Porsche port, Monopoly Casino, Centipede (with John Butler), Alice, Age2 (with Mark Krenek), Elite Force Expansion Pack, Civ3 (with John Butler), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Jedi Knight 2. Additionally, I'm told that some of the work I did on the free port of Hexen 2 wound up in the version that MacPlay shipped. I'm currently working on Halo and helping Glenda out on EverQuest as time permits.

The upside to all this is that I'm able to help bring a number of titles to the Mac. The downside is that as the number of titles increases, my ability to revisit and fix the older ones in my spare time decreases.
